Ecommerce website development services

Ecommerce website development is building an online shop where customers can find products, compare them and pay securely. We build stores on WooCommerce, Shopify or a headless setup, with product pages, category structure, checkout and product schema planned around how people search, so the shop is ready to be found as well as used.

What's included

6 Deliverables
  • Platform choice and setup

WooCommerce, Shopify and headless builds each suit different catalogues, budgets and teams. We recommend one based on your products, how you fulfil orders and who will run the shop day to day.

  • Product and category pages

Product templates show clear images, prices, variants, stock status and the details buyers need to decide. Category pages get their own intro copy and sensible filters, since they often rank for the broadest product searches.

  • Checkout and payments

A short, clear checkout with guest buying, trusted payment providers and accurate shipping and tax rules. We test the full order flow on desktop and mobile, including emails, refunds and failed payments.

  • Product schema and technical SEO

Product, offer and review markup reflects what is on the page, and canonical tags handle variants and filtered URLs so duplicates do not split rankings. Sitemaps and internal links are set up so new products are found quickly.

  • Speed on mobile

Product images, scripts and apps are kept lean, because slow pages cost sales as well as rankings. We test key templates against Core Web Vitals and remove or replace apps that add weight without earning their place.

  • Integrations and migration

We connect stock, shipping, accounting and email tools, and move products, customers and orders from your old platform. Every old product and category URL is redirected, so existing rankings and links carry over.

How it works

4 Steps
  1. Step 1: Plan the store

We review your catalogue, how you sell today and what customers search for, then agree the platform, features and category structure.

  2. Step 2: Design the buying journey

We design the home, category, product, basket and checkout pages, focusing on clarity and trust rather than decoration.

  3. Step 3: Build, load and test

We build on a staging store, import products, connect payments and integrations, and test orders, emails, speed and SEO settings end to end.

  4. Step 4: Launch and improve

We launch with redirects and sitemaps in place, watch orders, errors and search data closely, and refine pages based on how customers use the shop.

Frequently asked questions

5 Questions

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

It depends on the platform, the size of your catalogue, custom features, integrations and whether products are being migrated. Platform, app and payment fees are separate from the build. We quote after a short call about your products and how you sell.

Should I use Shopify or WooCommerce?

Shopify is hosted for you and simple to run, with monthly fees and some fixed rules such as its URL structure. WooCommerce runs on WordPress, gives you more control and suits shops that publish a lot of content, but it needs hosting and regular updates. We weigh both against your needs before recommending one.

What is headless ecommerce?

Headless means the shop’s back end, such as Shopify, handles products and orders while a separate front end, often built with Next.js, displays the store. It allows a faster, fully custom design but costs more to build and maintain, so it tends to suit larger or more demanding shops.

Will my online store be set up for SEO?

Yes. Category structure, product templates, metadata, product schema, canonical tags and sitemaps are part of the build. That gives the store a sound foundation, but rankings also depend on content, links and competition, so we can continue with ecommerce SEO after launch if you want.

Can you move my existing shop to a new platform?

Yes. We migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it, and redirect every old URL to its new equivalent. Redirects are tested before launch and search data is watched afterwards, so rankings and links built up over time are not lost.
